Is a lack of women in leadership roles still a problem? And how can we start to resolve this?
Speaker 2: (00:05)
Yeah, it's still clearly a problem. It's not happening anywhere near enough, but we're definitely making strides. It was recently, I believe it was the Citibank, the first U.S. bank, or major U.S. bank anyway, to appoint a female to a CEO role. I believe the lady's name was Jane Fraser. Now that is showing massive progress, isn't it? No one can deny it. And there is more and more and more examples of this. In terms of what can we do about it, for me, I go back to what I've said before. We need to stop looking at it on a gender basis. We just need to look at people's qualities. And there are so many women with outstanding qualities, that should be in these roles. And the more and more that get the chance, of course, it's going to encourage more and more people to do it. I have a 15 year old daughter. I'm not going to listen to the people who have told me that this isn't the case that we aren't changing. I mean, I've had some absolute nonsense mentioned to me on previous posts and I'm not prepared to hear it because I don't believe we need to have specific reference to certain things like diversity and equality. Because it just should be happening. And it is happening in certain places. Just not as much as we want, not at the pace that we're all going to go and be happy with, but that doesn't mean it's not happening. It doesn't mean we still need to call it diversity, inequality. It just is life. There are some women who are outstanding candidates for leadership roles and they should be in those positions. End of story.
