How can I work when I'd rather be doing something else?

Hmm. Okay. That's difficult. That is difficult. We need to be clear on why you'd rather be doing something else. Now, there could be a career option issue going on here, and that's a bit more of a challenge, but also is it that you're just putting something off. And it's easier to do the other thing which seems more enjoyable because the thought of the task at hand is quite a challenge? Is it just the case that you really just need to start it? So could we have a trade off here? Could you go and do that thing that you'd really rather be doing in a short while? Could you make a start on that thing you don't want to be doing, but rather than it being a massive piece of work, could you just do something towards it first, before going off and doing that other thing. Like I say, I'm not talking about a new job here. I'm talking about maybe a task you're putting off for another one. Let's start that other task, but don't see it as something you have to see all the way through. Let's just get it kicked off. 15 minutes, half an hour, if you can, on that thing you've been putting off. Then go and do a little bit, or more, of that nice thing that you always wanted to do. And just see how you feel about it.
