What should we look out for when we are promoted to become a manager?

So, first and foremost, I'm going to assume this is the first time you've been promoted to this sort of a position. And that's okay. Because it would be the first time you've ever been a manager. It's quite likely you're sitting there thinking: "Crap. I've never been a manager before". And it's even more possible that there isn't a huge amount of support coming your way, but you're now expected to 'be a manager'. And what the hell does that mean? These feelings are all okay. Along with the one that goes with: "Oh, I don't get to do the stuff that I was really good at anymore. I feel like I'm out of my comfort zone". That is also okay. Because unfortunately you're in the shoes of most people who get put into their first management position. So the first thing is reassuring you that it's okay, you're not alone, but you will need some help with it because it's totally different to anything you've done before. But if you are willing to listen, there's a huge amount of help out there for you. So it's okay. Relax. Breathe.
