How can I lead more effective meetings today?
(00:19)
Well, let's make absolutely sure that first and foremost you're not leading the meeting. If you've brought people in there should be a reason that they're there. Ask them to contribute, ask them why they think they're there, but do it in a positive way. You're not trying to catch them out here. And then check, did you really need to have that meeting? It's not a case that you, you will or won't. It's honestly, it's a genuine question you might find the answer to. But why am I having the meeting? Often, not always, I find people think that their meetings aren't effective because the meeting is all about them. And it's not intentional, it's not an ego thing. They just think that's how to run a good meeting. And it's not, if you're inviting people into the room, they need to be able to contribute. And they should be contributing far more than you to the meeting. If it's not something else, if it's, if you feel you need to give the instruction and that's training, that's not a meeting. It's a completely different concept. And people get a bit confused, the difference between training, meetings, and so like. So make sure everyone you've invited is contributing more than you to the meeting.
