Focus on what you know they do best. If you're feeling they need a shot of motivation or encouragement or confidence, there will be something. And there certainly should be something, that you know they're very, very good at. If you don't have that information, that's a conversation for another day that I could happily help somebody point out how you can find that. But you need to know that there's something that they are good at and then give them a task that focuses on their best skills. Even if it's not immediately relevant to what they're supposed to be doing right now. Just give them that shot of enthusiasm and confidence again, by giving them a task they know they can see through and that will add value to the business.
