I would imagine that the best way to approach this is to think at the start of the day, what you have planned and foresee potential obstacles that might be getting in your way. What's the reality of the situation? What are the actual likely opportunities and obstacles you're going to come across? And then decide what will I do and how will I go about it at the start of the day? Not during the day, not having suddenly found something that you could have predicted happening and then reacting to it. Think about all the possibilities at the start of the day, and you will be better armed to reduce the amount of reactive actions you take.
