What's one thing I can do to make sure I'm hiring the right person for my business?

Speaker 2: (00:05)
So the first thing is ask a different question. You're not going to be able to look for the right person for your business, because you don't know if they're the right person for your business. And you're going to be setting up rules and boundaries that actually exclude people who might be deemed the right people for your business. So ask a different question, look at what do I need? So, that changes the dynamic. I have a tool that I use called Clifton Strengths and far too many people think that you can use that tool to help people recruit, because it gives you some understanding of their natural talents. That doesn't mean they're going to be any good.

So just because someone comes in with the right sets of skills, doesn't mean they're gonna fit in with your culture. What you need to do is be clear about what it is you're looking to achieve and let your company become a walking advertisement for itself. So people come to you, the people that come to you have come to you because they've heard of how it is to work at your organization and they want to work in your culture. So change the dynamic. Don't go looking for the right person, create the right environment and the people will come. And they will self-select.
